Now if I was wanting to cook outside in sub-freezing temps I would make sure the battery(ies) were fresh. Brian

Check this thread out for discussion on how the Maverick will perform in the cold:
http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=124389 I just looked at the manual and the operational temperature ranges are not there. ![]() Brian

I don't think colours based on an element found in the periodic table adds anything to speed or accuracy. Now colours based on the colour spectrum have to be superfast - dare I say speed of light fast.

I've had a white one for about 8 months now.
The 3' pit probe that came with it went bad after about 10 cooks. I have a probe grommet mod in my WSM, never got it wet and never let grease drip on it. I got a 6' replacement probe. I don't use my ET-732 unless I need the meat probe. I find it easier, and works just as well to use a standard, analog thermometer in my probe grommet. Bob

To answer some of the above:
It will not monitor more than 1 pit at a time They work fine in the cold And yes, the probes are delicate and mine go out all the time. 3rd set in 2 years Still a good unit for the money though. Probably won't buy another one but I've had mavs for 7-8 years and they have always been ok for the money. None have lasted a full year though |
