Very interesting lil cooker. Think I may stay away from buying one although I'm still wanting but not needing a GA. Thing is if I bring one more portable home the kids will string me up.

much cheaper to get a used 18.5 kettle on cl and install short legs.
also not hard to install a wire for the lid if needed or just use some bungee cords. still waiting to see if the cooking grate is the same as the kettle or still differant as the older sjp.

They're both spec'd out with 18.5" cooking grates, so though I don't have a Gold or Silver to tell you for sure, I think it's probably a safe bet that they do...

As far as the grate, I don't have an 18.5" Gold or Silver kettle to tell you for sure, but since the JJ also has an 18.5" grate, why wouldn't it fit? |

the reason i questioned it is because the older platinum had a differant sized cooking grate than the normal 18.5 kettle. part # bares this out. looks like they got smart and did make the new one the same size as the kettle per part #.

Is that a modified one touch? Would love to have a short one with the lid wire like this.

So now that I'm looking at this, I like the portability. But I'd agree with mbshop, you can pick up an 18" kettle pretty cheap on CL, and then cutting the legs would serve the same purpose. Not as slick, but it would work.
More important question...when is someone going to make a mini-WSM with one of these! That would be pretty sweet!

My gig is that I have a Weber gasser which is quick and easy for after work cooks. It would not take much longer to put some coal on for a quick cook with that rig.
On weekends, it's low and slow on the WSM. I'm liking it!
