Default The complete history of my CL 18.5 WSM (Bunch of mods with pics)

Here is the complete history of my CL 18.5 WSM. Made in Palatine, IL in 1983. Someone owned it for 29 years, now it's mine!

Craigslist find $50 (before)

1st. I added some wheels

14" Clay pot mod (to be foiled while being used)

New charcoal door from Weber

WSM Thermometer

Extra bars on ends of the grate with handles for lifting

Modified charcoal grate with charcoal ring

Made some handles for the middle section out od 1/2" flat bar steel

Handles installed on middle section

Finished WSM

I also added the lamp pipe grommet mod for the remote thermometer probe & IQ110

You replaced the wood handle with plastic.

If you don't want it, can I have it?

I do like the handles you added to the charcoal grate and bottom cooking grate.

Testament to starting with a quality product and some one taking care of it over the years.

May I see a photo of your lamp pipe grommet mod? I want to modify my Weber OTG grill for a Thermoworks probe thermometer.

It looks just like this, the one I put on my Performer. I left the one for the WSM a little long on the inside. I can change it so the longer threads are on the outside, in case I decide to put a threaded cap on it. I used 3/8" pipe.
