Very cool! It's great to see the cultural experiences that surround food and it's preparation.

Now that's what I call a birthday party. It's amazing how different cultures all cook a pig differently. First time I have seen it done with coconut shells. Looks like you have a wonderful family and looks like everyone had a Great time. Thanks for sharing.

I see they use the indirect method too!
When I was stationed over there I had the opportunity to go to a couple pig roasts. Once done they would season and wrap it in banana leaves to rest! Some of the best pork ever and the greatest most generious people in the world! Brings back a lot of good memories! Thank you for sharing!

awesome intuition. just goes to show you that where there is a will there is a way and you can use what you have around you to make good bbq. don't need a big expensive trailer. i give a lot of props and respect to those men who turned that pig for the whole cook. that had to get tiring

Alongalong, Leyte. an hour from Tacloban.

there was a whole hog throwdown on another site and i asked for permission to organize this hog roast for a family entry. the guy putting on the throwdown said "sure, sounds like a blast"
yesterday was the 1st day of the voting and the website moderator told everyone to not vote for me because I didn't cook it.
