Here is my Weber Comp setup. At first i thought the Performer was just not worth the extra money above a regular kettle. However, since getting it for a birthday gift, I've learned that the propane burner to start charcoal, the workspace of the countertop, the convenience of the ash catcher and even the "charcoal bin aka trashcan, wood chunk holder, bbq guru protector"...etc... is all quite handy. I've only cooked 4 IBCA contests but you just don't see these pits down here in Louisiana competition too much. My only two wishes were that the lid design didn't act as a rain catch to fill up the bottom of the pit with water and if there were just a better way of insulating them for better efficiency.

Great looking units you got there. I heard the best way to store it in the rain is covering it with a large trash bag first then the Weber cover on top.

I use the trash bag but don't bother with the Weber cover anymore.

I just received my brand new 22" WSM. I got an inside deal that I could not pass up $250.00, it was delivered and assembled. Let the fun begin.

I am going to use it this at a competition this weekend, and with no time to practice before hand I am hoping all I have read will allow me to have some success with it.
