Hi everyone,
New forum member currently living in Des Moines. I grew up in Arkansas but didn't get into smoking/bbq until about a year ago, mostly because I was vegetarian for about a dozen years. Anyway, that's over and done with so I've been expanding my horizons and developed a bit of an infatuation with the art and traditions of barbecue. I've found these fora to be very useful so I decided to join up and be a part of community.
I'm currently using a Master Forge vertical smoker from Lowe's. Not much of a rig but on a small budget and for a newb it does the job. So far I've smoked a couple of briskets, my girlfriend is from Austin and other than beef ribs the only thing she wants is brisket, using lump and either pecan or mesquite. That's pretty much all there is to tell.
