what contests on long island this year?

June 10th - Long Island Kosher Championships, Westbury, NY
June 10th - Alpers Ribs and Chicken Cookoff, Port Washington, NY
August 5th - The Battle of the BBQ Brethren, Manorville, NY
September - Hicksville FD Cookoff (peoples choice and 3 categories), Hicksville, NY
October - Farmingdale University BBQ (5 category, standard event), Farmingdale, NY

Already happened: WilliePallooza, Brentwood and BBQ Throwdown, Old Westbury.

Alpers the hardware store on main st?

Forget contests, when is the cook at the Ronald McDonald house ? Maybe some lawnguyland cooks should bypass on of these events and volunteer for that.

Yes, the Alpers on Main St.

And we can certainly use all the help we can get for the cook at the Ronald McDonald House. For me, that's what the Brethren is all about.

I believe that it's on June 4th this year, but I'll confirm that.

It's being held on the street adjacent to the hardware store. It's chicken and ribs only and it's rather informal. It's a one day event run by and sponsored by Alpers.

I expect there to be about 12 teams or so. Everyone is very friendly and the cost to enter is $60.00. What other info can I get you?
