Allow me to Introduce Colt!!!

Weather today was miserable for Texas weather...in the low 30's/high 20's all day/night. I loaded up about 1/3 of the charcoal chute with RO lump after getting about a half to 3/4 chimneys worth of lump lit in the chute around 3pm. About 4pm Colt got up to 200F. I got busy disassembling the crate so I could get Tasha's sleet covered car back in the garage and when I went back to check on Colt, he was up to about 400F. I choked down the inlet valve and opened the door to release some heat and about 5pm, he settled in about 300F and hung out there until about 9pm. By 10pm, he was down to 200F and looked like the chute was empty.

Pretty happy with the efficiency and consistency once it settled in!

Will be doing a chuckie on Saturday morning. I suppose I could defrost a butt also and make some PP for lunches next week.

Holy Crap! You won that thing? Congrats!!! Can you ever have too many smokers?? Hmmmm me think NOT lol

I was worried what Tasha was going to think but she was excited for me since I never win anything. Then I told her that I could hook up an ATC to it and allow us to run an errand or 2 while smoking something and not be tied to the house all day, then SHE got excited for her!

That's an awesome smoker! So funny seeing one little lonely fatty cooked in that huge beast!

Congrats brother! You talked a lot of smack how u were going to win and you did. Btw did Pole D ever show up to take a pic of the SS2?:becky:

Awesome you won that brother!

At least you held up to the first smoke being a fatty.

True brethren style right there

Stay warm I heard you guys were getting up to an inch of ice and be careful

He never did! That farker!

Looks awesome. Way to muscle through yhe weather.
Thanks! I forgot to tell how we got it to the back yard.

The FIL had a vet problem come up, so Tasha (my 4'-11/100 lbs of hired muscle) and I tackled it alone about a half hour after the sleet started. So long as we had it on the plywood from the crate, all went smooth. It was a tight fit getting it through my skinny ass gate my fence builder built a few years ago. I knew it would be a tight fit, so I removed all the hardware to prevent scratching Colt if we rubbed fence a bit on the way through.

Colt is pretty manageable so long as there is a smooth surface. He likes to sink in grass

I'll keep a few sheets of the plywood from the crate around so it is easy to transport for Brethren bashes! Though I'll need to procure a way to haul it with the CX9 :becky:

You just made a mistake right there! Now you don't have an excuse of I have to tend the smoker when she asks you to go to the store and pick something up. Or go shopping for a couple hours with her. Way to shoot yourself in the food!

I have a ATC for my UDS, but I'll still make excuses of, I have to watch the smoker since I have food on, whenever my friends want to do something that I am really not in the mood for.

Haha...she gets it. She knows I enjoy the process.

I just need to get a CyberQ so I can still monitor when I have to run out

Glad your new toy arrived safely! And very happy to see Superior Smokers get a little much deserved Bretherly love, they have a great product and back it up with great customer service!

PS - you can always tell Tasha you need to stick around the house to throw some wood into the firebox every couple of hours...

Leftover smoker crate parts make a great sled!
