I Need Banner Help

Hey everybody, a friend of mine has been working on a logo for my comp team and we're stuck on what to put as the two words to fill the left and right space for the team banner. I thought "California BarBQue" would work but "Bang A Drum BBQ - California BarBQue" is just too much "bbq" know what I mean. We have writers block over here so I'm throwing it to the Brethren for help. Any ideas out there?

I have worked in the printing industry (also have a BS in graphic comm managment)for at least 10 years and I will tell you that what you have, in my humble opinion, is busy! Maybe try...instead of Cali.. put "Bang-a-drum". But the question is, what are you selling? your team or where your from?? I do like the skull, color combo and team name! Hope this helps!!

You're right, kinda busy... we're throwing everything at it right now and seeing what sticks.

We're not selling anything really, just having fun competing and if we can score a catering gig every once in a while then we're happy. We're just starting out so bear with me as I throw ideas at all you Brethren!

MUCH BETTER!!! I like how the San Jose "completes" the circle! What about a version of swapping California and Band a drum bbq? just for comparisons sakes??
 
For one, I would not use letters in the Phone number, I just have never liked that. The 2nd banner is easier on the eyes but would look better with a non white back drop. You already have California at the bottom so maybe something like Real Pit Bar-B-Que or something that reflects your cooking style.
 
I know the edges need work but this is mostly just for text and color.

I like that! But still would like to see "bang a drum" to the left.. and maybe lose the yellow around the letters on top of the logo... Just pressing so you can flush out all ideas.. again..just my $.02.
 
i would just put bang a drum over the logo and no bbq then put california on one side and barbeque on the other. i guess the team name would then be "Bang A Drum California Barbeque".
 
We did "Competition" on the left and "BBQ Team" on the right.
Some day I'll change "Competition" to "Championship" but not till we earn it!!

I'm a little hesitant to go with "California Bar-B-Que" because authentic Ca BBQ is cooked on Santa Maria pits over red oak wood, typically used to cook tri tip. IMHO CA BBQ is just like regular bbq only it's taxed at the second highest rate in the nation, so maybe it's qualified. Heck I dunno, i'm just having fun over here!

what if you put bang a drum on top and barbeque on the bottom and forget about the words on the side. it will fit better in square areas and be better on t-shirts.
