Well besides having quite possibly the longest thread title ever I've got a new smoker to mess with. Snagged a WSM awhile back is fun but there's just something primal about feeding a fire. So I've been watching Craigslist like a Hawk. Had two smokers that were misrepresented. Was about to pull the trigger on a Yoder. Fact is I called out to order the Cheyenne and found out it was only 3/16...finally yesterday this popped up. Quick negotiation later and I'm loaded and heading down the road. Today was my first chance to use it got her loaded down with chicken cupcakes, spam, baby backs, nekked fatty!!! Been making a list I will share later when I get it finished and drawn out...this thing holds heat and uses little fuel.....I may be in love!!!

Another good neighbor I don't have :-((

Well combustion isn't right. I have to open the door to get the fire going then close it. Think on the rebuild I will add another vent. But she's sure pumping along. Cupcakes are off resting in some broth in the oven. Beenie Weenies and vegtables are done also. Ribs wrapped, fatty and spam almost done and hotdogs are simmering in their awesome bath now.

Nice score and you get an "atta boy" for putting it right to work and getting it dirty. Great cook.

So with intake full open you smolder fire? How many splits are you burning at once ? Is fire on a grate 2-3" off floor of FB so ash can fall and air circulate? Running exhaust full open to create draft?

Grate is maybe 1-1.5 inches at best and its a crappy wire shelf. I have both intake and exhaust wide open. Im using small diameter logs 2" diameter.

Ya I'd make a removable expanded metal grate 3" off bottom and probally add a 2nd intake.

Could just be bad wood...try another cook with different wood and see how it goes before you go modding too much.

Well ran a few test runs with it after installing some fire bricks to raise the fire rack. Much much better. I was bored yesterday and well thats were the problem really started....decided to build a cart....I am raising the bottom of the door to 42" building a shelf across the front, and a new cart with expanded metal floor. All in all its gonna its gonna make it much more functional. There was a square bung welded into the fire box opisite of the fire door. Any idesa what its for??????

Whats the thoughts on a bbq guru on a offset? Since im already welding it woukd cost me any more time and very little material to add in a bung. I can even reuse where that square hole is on the bottom of the fire box. From what I have read a setup like this is amazing.
