Our team Bark Brothers BBQ did our first competition in Nelsonville, OH this past weekend.

We had an excellent experience. Met many new friends and saw some teams I had only heard of around here.

Danielle of Diva Q stopped by our site early Saturday morning and wished us luck along with complimenting us on our logo/banner design (by yours truly:biggrin1:)
It was nice to meet her in person and have her offer her help to us and any other teams if needed.

Man, turn-ins can be NERVEWRACKING but once you get that first box out it seemed to get easier for the rest of the categories. We had a timeline printed out for all of our steps which helped immensely in keeping us all on track. It was amazing how quiet it was from 11:30 - 1:30 during turn-ins after all of the morning mayhem & prep work....very zen-like.

We ended up finishing 5th and got TWO 1st place calls in Chicken and Pork.
12th ribs and 21st in Brisket (sniff ).

We all cannot wait until next season, and looking forward to working on our weaknesses over the winter months.

Thanks again to all who competed, made us feel welcome and offered their help if needed. Special thanks to our neighbors Velvet Smoke for the hot water access and hospitality...we will see you all again down in Nelsonville and hopefully all of the other Ohio comps as well.

If you have been on the fence about competing, jump in and get your feet wet...you'll be addicted though

Thanks to all the brethern too for the wealth of knowledge here. The folks here and the wealth of BBQ info surely helps the "learning curve" and helped us all on our first time out.

Congrats guys. We will see you next year.

Thanks & congrats to you guys as well. :thumb:

We will definitely be back again next year. Do all of the Ohio comps keep within the same month / timeframe usually? As we are trying to plan out next year's season over the winter.

Thanks, we are still basking in the glow. Especially for being "noobs" to the comp scene.:thumb:
