I had the butcher to grind me up a brisket and I made it into burgers. The burgers were topped with some homemade queso cheese, charred poblano chili peppers, crumbled up blue corn chips and a homemade pico de gallo. I paired them up with some grilled sweet tater fries and a few cold brews.

Thanks For Lookin'

Most. Epic. Throwdown. Ever! Seriously, I've been pondering my entry for days now.

Shiz - That is one gloriously messy delicious-looking burger.

Wow Moose is that a little slider? JK! That looks awesome! What kind of bun is that?

Not quite a slider! It's the angle I took the photo and the weird shape of the freshly baked rustic roll. I should have mentioned that in my post....

Ok, I liked my burger last weekend, but I may have to come up with yet another entry... One to queam the squeamish, one to frighten the frightful, one to make your tastebuds cry out in envy! This weekend, the grill will be hot and ready to sizzle your gizzards with delectable delicacies of the burger variety!

Smokey Al Gold, great looking sandwich, but where's the burger? :)

I wanted to say something about that too. Then I realized that nowhere in the rules did it specifically state that you had to use ground meat, other than it being inferred by it being a farking BURGER Throwdown. So I decided to just give Smokey Al kudo's on a good looking sandwich and let the voters decide.:thumb: So much less stress that way. I just hope we don't start seeing odd entries like this in a regular fashion, otherwise I'm gonna have to figure out a rule change or something.

EDIT - see below post after thinking about it for a bit

On second thought...Gonna have to DQ that Chicken Sandwich. That's like submitting Beef Brisket on a Pork Ribs throwdown. Gotta nip this in the bud now.

Smokey Al...if yoou had used ground chicken meat, then it would not have been DQ'ed. Hope you understand. No hard feelings.

r)n.1. A sandwich consisting of a bun, a cooked beef patty, and often other ingredients such as cheese, onion slices, lettuce, or condiments. Often used in combination: a cheeseburger.
2. A similar sandwich with a nonbeef filling. Often used in combination: a crab burger; a tofu burger.

I'm sorry, but a steak sandwich is not a burger either, though it fits that definition you posted because they do not really qualify what a patty is. It has to be ground meat in my opinion. Anyone posting a tofu burger on this site deserves a DQ, and possibly even a spanking. (just kidding, post a tofu burger if you really want to)

This rule will be posted on all future Throwdowns, and is effective immediately in this Throwdown as well:

The dish must fit the category. Please do not submit something that does not match the category. I will personally oversee the entries, and if an entry does not fit the category in it's most fundamental form as I understand it to be, the entry will be disqualified. There will be no appeals process, however I promise to be as fair as I possibly can in regards to enforcing this rule. So please be mindful of the category when submitting your entry. Feel free to ask questions if you have questions about what would or would not qualify.

I guess I was under the assumption that I had made a chicken burger. I got that idea after looking at the burger throwdown example picture which is a meat other than beef and wanted to do something different. True it is not ground it never even donned on me that what I made was not a chicken burger. My heart is broken into a million pieces and I don't know how I'll ever make it through this ordeal. I wasn't trying to bend rules I really thought I had made a chicken burger. Oh well fair is fair. Can I at least consider this a zero?

It was a bit late when I posted last night, and I forgot to add the 'proof'...

The proof is in the pudding! And you just delivered more pudding to the Brethren than Bill Cosby sold to America.

Man does that look good Curt! WTG!!

Well, I guess it won't be getting any votes!:becky::thumb:

I guess this means I will need to start describing the category for people to avoid such confusion going forward.

You folks have really got me salivating today! Guess I am gonna have to make a couple of burgers for myself real soon. Thanks for all the great pics and great ideas!

I wasn't trying to call out a DQ, just teasing. Ak, you can make me one if those, and call it anything you want... I'll enjoy every bite!
