Hello everyone, I to share my first smoker and build in one. Plz give my all your thoughts and ideas because I'm greener then fresh cut wood to this whole thing. I was given this tank by my father and we will start there. (pic soon to come won't load from my droid:x:mad: )

You probably need Tapatalk, and the Photobucket app on your droid. Worked for my iPhone.

Okay still having problems with Tapatalk something about you do not have permission to get posts sufficient privilege? Anyways got the old laptop going and this is it:thumb:

That is not a good candidate for a smoker, bro. I think the diameter is too small.

I agree, diameter looks a bit on the small side. I'd get that thing tested, filled, and hook it up to my kegerator :p

Found the pdf for it and it was a two for one sale.

I tried to post the pdf pic but I guess I'm to new for two in a day..lol

It's 20" x 4'

Wow, that's hard to see it in your pic. 20" in diameter X 4' long should be OK.

Edit: I opened up my CAD software and superimposed the pic on top of a 20" X 48" box and the height to width ratio is right on.

Yep 20" x 51" not counting the legs and there is another tank in that one 18" x 42" all stainless... I have more Pics to post as soon as they let me.. I'm very excited...

I'd be excited too! So where ya headed, straight up off set, reverse flow???? Don't keep us waitin'! Love a build:thumb:

I thought of doing it just as an upright useing the uds as a guide, but with doors because its so tall. And now that I have two tanks I dont know if want to stick my first plan and just use the inner tank as a grill beside it.. Also I want to do as little welding as possible, none was my goal but the bottom had to come off to get the inner out. So now that the welder has to come out Im more open to ideas, pros and cons would help me alot. Im taking tons of pics and will post as soon as i can.

I agree it is too tall for a UDS. But I do see it rockin' as an offset.

If it was me I would put the firebox under it I have built several like that.

This was my simple idea cart made of 2.25 maple (old bowling alley stock). This would give me up to 4 racks 6" apart. What is the pros to a offset to doing a upright with fire under.. This way I can grill hot and fast on right and low and slow on left? and thx for your input, This is a lot of stainless to mess up.

is 6" between racks enough room to really be able to get the racks in and out?

I like the concept. If it works I think you'll have a great setup

It will make a great 1/4 scale:
