My wife and I attended the Great Lakes BBQ Association's first cooking class in Holly, Michigan.

It was a great class, the food was amazing, and the guys/girls from the GLBA were very friendly. The price was also amazing, $35 for me and $10 for my wife.

It included a pulled pork sandwhich for lunch. The sandwich was great and the sauce was amazing.

The classes included samples of all of the food we learned about. Off of the top of my head, we tried bacon wrapped pork loin, chicken lollipops, beef tri-tips, chicken quarters, ABT, salmon, and ribs.

There was also a segment on how to make a rub, with free samples of the instructor's rub.

I should note that the ribs were the best I ever had. It used the same sauce as the pulled pork. It is called Hickory BBQ & Grill D Soul Sauce. One of the guys who runs the GLBBA makes it and sells it.

I ended up buying 5 different bottles of sauce. Off course, I bought a bottle of Hickory BBQ & Grill D Soul Sauce.

The class was from 10:00 - 16:00. It was very well run and they managed time very well. You would not have known that it was their first class.

It was more than worth the 3 and a half hour drive from Cleveland to attend.

So ya liked my ribs?

Thanks for coming out and especially for buying all that sauce!

No problem. The ribs were great! Even my wife thought that the pulled porl and the ribs were amazing. That says alot, because she is not a fan of pork

Was I right when I guessed that you used Hickory BBQ & Grill D Soul Sauce on the ribs?

Angio,
thanks for making the trip with the weather so nasty and glad you both enjoyed the class. It was fun meeting so many people and helping with the event. The instructors really did an excellent job.
But really, you liked Bubbas ribs???? :), maybe it was jet lag from the long drive that tainted your taste buds :) :)

Take care
Scott

I think it was the fact that he finally used Dale's sauce.

Love all the ribbing (LOL) My wife and I attended and got a lot out of this. We hope that you continue to put these on and let us know what we can do to help it grow. Nice to see good "Q" passion in Michigan.

Angio, thanks for coming out especially with the weather we had yesterday!!

It was a good time with some great people. Thanks to all of the instructors that came out and helped us with this, and also all of the attendees. Thank you all!!

Was there a class in Holly this past weekend? HA!

I was there and my one job was to tend the pit. As luck would have it, work would not let me enjoy that. Instead I sat in there watching everyone enjoying the good times while I had the freaking phone glued to my head.

I did get to enjoy the samples. And they were outstanding. The tenderloin from ford was absolutely freaking amazing.

The ribs were butt ugly but mighty tasty.

Maybe someone could post some pics to show that this class actually DID happen......Tonto, anybody???

Well the boys and girls in blue certainly enjoyed the benefits, said the building smelled really good all weekend!

Ford gave a great class on trimming and cooking expensive cuts of beef, along with answering some comp questions from the audience!

Julie talked about smoking salmon, and the samples for the class were amazing!

Hey Angio, you were correct, that was his sauce.
He took first place in ribs AND sauce last year in the Detroit soul fest cook-off, really is good stuff when you can go downtown and beat all the masters at their own game!

We'll have that available on our site soon, sold out what i had Saturday!
