Why do you need an LLC to write anything off? The advantage of LLC's vs. Sole Proprietorship is personal protection for liability. For taxes, you can use a plain old sole proprietorship.

Todd Johns DBA Plowboys Foods, LLC.

In Missouri, it costs $105 and you can do it online with the Secretary of State.
