Question regarding Jack Daniels Smoke Chips

I recently got a Smokey Joe Silver two weeks ago. So far ribeyes and bone pork chops have been very good on it. The other day at the commissary I saw these Jack Daniels Smoking Chips and I thought about using them. Here is my question: the bag I was looking at said "Use with gas grills or electric smokers". I went home and looked online at some other retailers and found another bag of what seems to be the same product but it mentions charcoal on the package. Is there really a difference in the two different bags of smoking chips? If i soaked the "gas grill and electric smoker" one in water and threw them into my coals would it turn out okay? I just don't know what the difference is.

I was thinking the same thing. I couldn't find any apparent difference in the two but I wanted to be sure before I went ahead with trying them.

Thanks for the inputy everybod. I have been hesitant to buy these. i know the Jack Daniels may just be a name but I could seriously smell the familiar whiskey smell throught the bag, they are strong like rub.n.smoke said. I'll probably put them in foil with some holes poked in them on my little Smokey Joe. Like blackdog said the chips would burn up too quickly if I just put them directly on the coals.
