My mom made these every year during the holidays. They were my favorite. Here's the recipe. Happy holidays!!

Sorry about it being sideways.

My mom used to make those too - you mix the dough, roll them, I think they needed to go back in the fridge for a bit, then bake them and roll them in the powdered sugar... good memories!

Thanks for the tips lmaj. I never hung out and watched her make them but they sure were dam good. Any tips from anyone else would be awesome!!!

My grandmother made those. Very addictive. Betcha can't eat just one. I looked through her cookbook but that recipe is not in there. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for putting that up! We have a binder fill of family recipes from grandmothers, aunts, moms, newspapers, magazines, printed out stuff from here, etc. I need to scan those things one day - family recipes are a treasure.

Are those the ones that are kinda hard? Sort of shortbread cookies rolled in powdered sugar?

If so, that's one of Mom's regulars too. My wife makes em every year now. We always called em "Mexican Wedding Cakes". Don't know why?

Sounds like the cressent cookies that we have. Are the nuts ground up in the batter? They are good and I'm not a nut lover myself.

Sorry for the late response.
That would be the one wampus.
I never herd anyone call them that.

OK - here's the details as my family makes them...

Pecan Dreams

1/2 lb butter
4 Tb 10X sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups Flour
1 cup chopped nuts

Extra Confectioners Sugar for rolling the cookies in.

Cream butter and sugar.
Add vanilla, flour and nuts.
roll into balls
Bake for barely 15 minutes @ 350

Roll in confectioners sugar while still warm.
Makes about 4 dozen small cookies.

The recipe sounds really similar to some I learned to make while I was working at the Lipton Tea Co. a million years ago. They weren't hard, and they weren't cut into bars. They were regular soft, round cookies, and the baker called them "Mexican Wedding Cookies." All the employees were crazy for them. They were delicious! :thumb:
