Storage for comp equipment

I use a 3 drawer one similiar to the above from Wal-Mart for $20. It sits nicely on a prep table and holds all my tools.

We use the same thing for items we access regularly. Plastic bins for other stuff like lights, extension cords, pots, etc. These bins double as our wash tubs during the comp. Finally we use one of those panels that holds shoes for things like utensils, gloves, etc. It hangs up under the awning.

Using these for 5 years now, a few teams have copied them. No lifting. No cheap plastic roll around things that will break in contest use. Flipped one over when we lost the EZ UP during a micro-burst, no damage to the unit or the contents.

Where did you get those?

ZBQ- when I grow up I want to be like you! I drool over your set up every time I run into you at comps.

I use two of these from Home Depot. One for food items and one for smoker items. They have a removable tray on the top for small items. Wheels and pull out handle make it easy for one person to move around.

I've been looking at that for my electrical stuff (generator, gas, extension cords, power strips). I just carry a generator for backup and this would let me wheel it out of the trailer during setup and free up trailer space. They are rain tight, can be secured, and a pretty good deal for $60.

We use plastic bins for all the bigger stuff. But we were lucky enough to buy one these airline carts (or galley carts) from Pigheaded BBQ at our first contest. It holds all our little stuff, stays dry in the rain and very easy to move around with the locking wheels. They're not cheap, but they are built like a tank and pretty light.

How heavy is it and how do you transport it? I really like this idea

Assembled Size

72" W x 20" D x 37" H
Hardwood Top: 72" x 20" x 1.5" thick
317 lbs.
8 Drawers: 19.25"W x 18.5"D x 2.75"H
3 Drawers: 19.25"W x 18.5"D x 4.75"H
1 Drawer: 19.25"W x 18.5"D x 7.5"H
Shelf: 21.5" x 18.75"

I like this chest. Have some concerns about the weight but this is sort of what I have been considering. Would fit great under my prep table.

It weighs with nothing in it 300 lbs. It must weigh close to 450 with every thing in it, It rolls easy and I have not issue pulling it up my ramp of my trailer by myself . It fits right besides my smoker on the trailer.

I like that. Nice thought on the ramp. Thanks for the pics.

I made them out of stuff I ordered on the internet. Took a few hours to make, but they are still like new - worth the time and money we put into them.

The wheels are 8" pneumatic casters, the shelving is from wireshelving.com, and the resin bins are from Lowes (made by Suncast). The bins are bolted to the shelves using stainless steel bolts and fender washers, and the horizontal shelves are locked in place with stainless steel self tapping screws to prevent the shelves from shifting when getting bounced around in a trailer.

The casters I found on Amazon for 8 bucks, but don't have them on there anymore though.

That's really cool, but I would keep hearing voices saying things like "Now that you have stored your luggage in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of you, fasten your seat belt by insert the metal fitting into the buckle, and then pull it low and tight across your lap. To release it, lift up on the buckle. Passengers must comply with lighted signs, posted placards, and crew members instructions."

It's possible I spend way to much time on airplanes. :becky:

I use the inside of a Cres Cor warming cabinet with bus bins, works great and is duel purpose.

We use two of these [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-01748501-4-Drawer-Handles-Platinum/dp/B0006O0EF6/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1396214492&sr=8-5&keywords=3+draw+plastic+storage"]Amazon.com - Sterilite 01748501 4-Drawer Unit with Putty Handles, Light Platinum -@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Or5oJbJIL.@@AMEPARAM@@41Or5oJbJIL[/ame]

Made a base for them on casters that we can wheel around without fuss and the tops make a great prep area.

They look like there is an opening above the handle. Is there.
How do they fair in rain?
