I picked this Kamado up last week for $75
It was in someones backyard that I drive past regularly
After a few weeks of eyeing it off on drive- bys , I plucked up the courage to knock on the door and enquire about it
I was greeted by a lady who was taken back at first but after a chat and explanation of my love to restore old BBQ's (usually Weber). She opened up and gave me a brief run down on the Kamado
She told me she hadn't used it for a few years and it was missing the firebox
I made an offer and she accepted as long as could get it out of her yard before her husband came home
Here's some pics

Was hoping someone might be able to help determine its age
Is it a imperial #5?
It has a steel band with handles around the bowl , was this standard or something someone has custom made for it?
I haven't seen one on any Kamado's before
Does anyone have any photos of what the original colour would of looked like? It has bright orange colored paint around the knob on the damper
Thanks for reading and I hope someone can help me out
Cheers

Thanks Smooth
Is there any way of dating it?

Nice Find Hogsy!

I own a #3, sans the lower handle. Not sure if that is stock.

Find a firebox and have at it!
