OMOSB - "One More Offset Smoker Build"

This is turning out to be an epic build! How's the weather been down there this week? We've been near 40 almost everyday this week!

Same here. High 30s to low 40s.
We will be at Smokin in Steele, in Owatonna in June so stop by and check out the finished product. Have a cold one with us and visit.:becky:

Did a little more shopping today since I had run out of steel. The R&M folks made short work of all the cuts I needed done this morning.

Hopefully the last trip to the steel yard. Also picked up a load of stainless steel for the grill plates.

Coming into the home stretch. A little more welding and then its time for sandblasting and paint.

nice build!

Thanks. Been having fun with it, but I am ready to test drive the smoker. The trailer has taken a lot of time to get it like we want it, but its also very modular so things can be changed if needed later on. Still have not worked on the warming box and we may hold off for a bit on it.

Question: How many folks have added sinks to their trailers? Is it really all that helpful? I am in a non catering situation but would like to some day so I may change out the one tool box for a sink and capture unit sometime in the future. Most of the regulations around here require a three sink combo. Other options I should be thinking about?

Send me links to your warming units guys. I need ideas on a combo warmer and grill.

More progress!

You have been waiting all week for this......

Yep, here we go again!

Need to raise the fender up a bit so it aligns with the top of the rail of the trailer.
It turned out pretty good we think.

The reverse flow plate is installed and we have the tuning plate build for the end of the pit. In addition to the firebox inlet and exhaust stack plates, we should have a lot of control over the heat, smoke, etc.

Another view of the tuning plate and drain.

Getting close. Almost ready to fire things up and do a test burn.:clap2:

Thanks. Have not totalled it up yet but we are still very cheap considering all the upgrades we have made. Steel and Aluminum are not cheap these days though. Even when you are buying via the scrap yards.

All I can say is wow. That is farking awesome. I am going to do my frist comp in may then follow it up with smokin in steele, I hope to shake the hand of the guy who put this beauty together. I have been a welder and fabricator for a long time and I sure enjoy nice work. Good job brother!

Thanks. Had A lot of help along the way from a bunch of equally talented friends too. We will be at Faribault and then Owatonna so stop by for a cold one and pull up a chair. Look for the smoker and our RV. We call it the "Miami Spice Machine. because of its outstanding stripe job that it came with. ;>
Its very comfortable and paid for, both are things we really like about it these days. :thumb:

Its been a little while since our last update. Wrapping up the firebox mods, so that we can slide a minion box in or the standard fire pit grate in when we are using lump charcoal and or wood. Got the grate cut out this weekend. The trailer has been torn back down part of the way and we are getting it ready to send to the sandblaster. Pics coming up.

Here is the paint we are going to use. Its supposed to be the same paint that you see used on the Jambo Pits.

More work on the lighted fenders. Decided to switch away from the led setup and go back to the standard bulbs. Needed a bit more light inside the fender to make it more uniform.

Got the grate roughed out. This is a section of floor grate that you would find over an opening in the concrete on a city sidewalk. Sectioned a piece out of an unused piece. Nice and thick cross bars. Adding a couple braces to the sides to help keep it flat. Also going to cut the sides so it will sit down in the lower portion of the firebox which has a deep V in it for ash collection.

Another shot of the rear portion of the fenders. Dropped the tail lights into the fender to help keep them from getting punched out if we back up into something. When could that ever happen right?

The first of the two temp gauge rings are done. Will have one for the top rails and one for the lower main rails. Overkill but what the heck. I had two temp gauges. In the words of Bill Cosby when he was talking about buying a Shelby Cobra. "Its got dual everything.":laugh::laugh:
