BluDawg - Posed the following question in a different thread.

"$1.50 for a cup a Coffee,... Dayum! I'd hate to see the prices on the rest of the menu! That's high dollar eats. Glad I don't live in the Peoples Socialist Republic of Kaliforniastan"

Which made me wonder...How much does Q cost at the joints around your area? Or if you are a vendor how much do you sell it for?

I think a slab of pork ribs is good indicator around the country. Maybe it is just me.

Around here doing a quick search I found..

D'Miller's Famous BBQ = Full Slab of Spares 19.99
MacQues = Full Slab Pork Ribs 28.95
T and R Taste of Texas = Full Slab (with 4 sides) 25.99
Sandra Dee's = Full Slab (with 2 Large Sides) 24.00

That is why with three kids we do not go aout to eat often. My 10 year old does not order off the kids menu anymore. Last time he ordered a steak and also had two big salads from the salad bar. When the waitress came by and asked if we had room for dessert, he paused in between bites of his second salad and sad he was still hungry. I siad when you pay for dinner you can have dessert otherwise drink some more water to fill up. For a lanky kid that boy can eat.

Here in Birmingham, AL, the prices go like this -

-Saw's BBQ - $19.95 Whole Slab Spares

-Dreamland - $19.50 12 Bone Slab Spares

-Jim N' Nick's - $11.99 for 1 pound Spares, $16.99 for two pounds Spares, $23.99 three pounds Spares

-Golden Rule BBQ - $19.99 Whole Slab Spares

If I was paying for barbecue, Saw's is the only place I'd go. Jim N' Nicks has just become another chain restaurant that doesn't serve good barbecue, and Golden Rule is hit and miss depending on location. Dreamland is over hyped beyond all means too.

When my son first learned to read he wanted his own menu. We were at this place that had seafood. He told the waitress he was going to have the Snow crab legs. At 14 bucks a pound I had to step in. We still laugh about that.

I rarely eat out and even more rare is going out for BBQ I hate being disappointed. The last time was about a year ago IIRC a brisket samich was 3.95.

I almost never go out for BBQ; maybe I'm becoming a BBQ snob now that I know how to cook properly, or maybe it's just that MN isn't exactly a BBQ Mecca, but I'm never happy with the BBQ at local restaurants. The only exception is a spot about a mile from my house, called Dixie Blue. Full slab of baby backs or St. Louis Style are $23.

I charge $19 for a slab of BB with one side and Texas toast.
I'm in central Iowa. That is about the going rate around here.

On coffee prices, most middle of the road mom n pop and chain restaurants around here charge $1.70-$1.80 for coffee, but that does include free refills. Coffee is not very good in most of these places.

What is Franklin's for a whole rack of spares? I seem to recall a price list, but can't remember the amount. Ribs are $14/lb, and Brisket is $16/lb.

Rudy's $11.60ish/lb for st louis spares. $32.50/lb for baby backs! (don't ask me why so much). $14.20/lb for moist brisket, slightly less for cutter's choice whatever that means.

I just went to Dreamland a couple months ago.Mediocre at best.NO beef on the menu.

I've got the opposite problem on the west side of the Mississippi. Most BBQ joints don't serve pulled pork. Just chopped beef. I like it and all but geeze!!! Throw a couple butts on evah now and den!!!!
