Pecan Lodge downtown has some of the best Brisket in town. Bring friends, order five pounds or more of meat and you get to skip the main line to go to the catering counter inside. This can save you an hour wait in line at times.

Slow Bone is on the near North side of downtown and I-35. Great dry rub Texas ribs smoked on an all wood burning Oyler. Good Brisket and sausage as well, and they make most of their sides, pickles, etc. in house.

Looking for a little upscale BBQ? Try SMOKE in Oak Cliff (Near Downtown) for the traditional Brisket and Ribs along with Hog Jowl Bacon, Rabbit Sausage, and other interesting bites.

Cattleack BBQ in Carrolton (20 minutes north of downtown) is some of the best in the state, but only open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm or sold out. He keeps a super cool 500 Gallon Austin Smoke Works cooker out front, it's a thing of beauty!

Further north of Dallas you have 407 BBQ and Bumbershoot BBQ just south of Denton close to I-35W and FM 407. Bumbershoot also uses an Oyler Smoker and sells out of an old Airstream trailer. They use green apple slices in their Cole Slaw and smoke their potatoes for the potato salad, so the sides are just as good and interesting as the meat. Great dry rub ribs here as well.
