Hey folks, my partner has serious machine shop. We can weld, laser, stamp you name it, in pretty much any kind of metal. As an avid contest cooker, for fun I want to make a smoker for the back of the shop. Most of the plans I see out there is converting a bullet shape or propane tank into a smoker. Does anyone have any plans or dimensions for an rectangle box shape? I'm looking for something large enough for a whole hog. Any help including bullet shapes is greatly appreciated. Btw right now I cook on a Stumps Classic which I love.

I have seen a LOT of builds posted on here, but not as many actual plans or prints for them. You might just try doing a search for "propane tank offset smoker build" or something like that. OR, have a go at google and see what comes up. There's likely some plans that will pop up on other BBQ forums, but I don't know.

Myself, I've learned quite a bit from just reading through other people's builds.

Brother Phrasty's build comes to mind. Lots of great info here:

Norcoredneck built a nice trailer smoker a while back:

Jlane21034 did another killer trailer smoker (this is pretty much exactly what I want to build....collecting parts now):

And northern smokey also did a killer offset build a while ago:

Hope these help with some ideas. No doubt any of them would help you with questions. READ.....TAKE NOTES!!!

Good luck brother!

Wampus,

Thank you for the info. I see how you were participating in the Phrasty build. Hope you build your rig. I'm in the process of moving into a new warehouse and hope to make something for the new place (permanent install) by Spring. I'll make sure to keep notes and pics. I would love to make Klose style Pit with a grill all in one set up.

Keep Smoking

If I can ever get my pics to upload I'll show one that I just started: A double door SS freezer (5' x 4.5' x 2' inside) that'll be powered by works from a Traeger 075. It should hold about three whole hogs if I need it to.

Blue, Thanks for the look on your link. nice skills.

How is that beauty working for you?
