If you want to pay the shipping I'll send you some. Or you can take a drive down here just north of Lexington and I'll load ya up.

Look for a local tree service. Give em a call and see if you can grab some oak, hickory and apple. You may be able to barter for some BBQ!!

Should have posted it, but I ran across an article in the Post's Food Section(Jim Shahin/Smoke Signals) several months back. He mentioned a place, Firewood Factory in Bladensburg. I went out and talked to the guy and he loves to talk. He (the father) sells hickory and oak and used to sell fruit wood. Apparently, the govt stepped in and put into place tons of requirements regarding interstate shipment of wood because of insects, so he no longer does fruit wood. You might ask him.

The guy sells big pieces of oak and hickory. I think he was selling 20lb bags for $12. Shahin mentioned $20 but that may have been before the regs if they were new. Living in a condo, I lack an axe, spliiter, hatchet, etc. The guy was nice enough to wander around his yard picking up chunks of oak (since I can buy hickory chunks at HD). Must have walked away with at least 10 lbs.

Check him out.
