BBQ Brethren Judging Class

The inaugural BBQ Brethren Judging Class will take place on April 17th at 10:00 am at WilliePallooza. This class is strictly for those that have already taken a judging class offered by a sanctioning body. This class is free, but registration is necessary.

The purpose of this class is to familiarize judges who have participated in previous judging course with the intricacies of the BBQ Brethren rule sets and how they may differ from what judges are currently familiar with. This class will be an abbreviated version of the of the full, comprehensive class that will be offered in the future.

This class will be run by Jerry and Linda Mullane. Upon completion of this one hour class, participants will become the first Registered BBQ Brethren Judges.

Again, this class is free and will take roughly one hour. It is open to anyone that has participated in any judging class run by any sanctioning body. You are welcome to stay after the class and participate in WilliePallooza.

If you are interested in participating, please send an email to events@bbq-brethren.net. Please put Registered Judges in the subject line and your contact info in the body.

NY.... You regionalist pig! Kinda tough for those of us a gazillion miles away to
participate! :) Oh well...........

Interesting.

Alas, half a continent away.

Is there anywhere that the rules particular to Brethren contests are listed?

To clarify, this is the first class. There will be others in different areas.

You can find a current iteration of the BBQ Brethren rules at:

Click on the 'rules' link on the right.

While you are at the site, you may want to consider buying a raffle ticket or two. The proceeds are going to Breast Cancer Help, a NY based 501(c)3 charity. Click on Raffles on the top navigation bar for more info.

I'll see your 946 miles and raise you 560! :)

Sounds like a cool thing, Eric. Can't wait to see you move it west. And south. :)

Went well. 18 judges in the first class and some stragglers cam in later for another impromptu.

...could this Bill of Rights be the beginning of something bigger? Like the BBQ-Brethren becoming a Sanctioning body?

It is already recognized by the Nid Atlantic BBQ Association as a sanctioning body!

That is cool!

The PNWBA recently sanctioned a contest in Northern California. It was an established event that the organizers had to change the date of and it is up against a new contest in Las Vegas and another in Bakersfield CA. the same weekend.

The CBBQA recently voted to approve PNWBA events for TOY points, but unfortunately denied the Stockton event.

OH Well, its a start! And its all BBQ!
