I've got a friend in Germany who took a Weber Performer back with him after an expat assignment in the US. Now he is finding that he can't directly connect the German propane bottles to the connection for the gas assist fire starter. I'm trying to help him by making up an adapter hose. Unfortunately, I don't have a Performer and I haven't found a local store that sells them where I can get a look at the connection.

Can somebody help me here? I need to adapt to a 3/4" pipe thread on the German propane bottles.

Thanks in advance!

Performers before 2005 used a 5-lb refillable tank with a quick disconnect. They also had a stainless steel work surface.

Performers since 2005 use a 14-oz standard disposable propane bottle. They also have a thermo-plastic work surface. You can use an adapter hose for the Weber-Q to connect this performer model to a standard 20-lb propane bottle.

Maybe the way to go is replace the regulator and tank connection with a German one. Then he would just have to worry about the burner to regulator fitting.

Seems Lowes and home Depot as well as walmart all sell replacement hoses and regulators. Have you tried them?

Bumping an old thread ... --

I am looking at an older Weber Performer tomorrow with the stainless steel work surface, and imagine the 5 lb tank that is included doesn't have an OPD, and I won't be able to get it refilled.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to use disposable gas tanks, like for a camp stove, in the older style Performer? I've read that the newer Performers use these tanks, but I believe the fittings are different ...

And I'd rather not use a 20lb tank because of portability issues.

Thanks for any help!!

Weber performer lp tank

Mine has the opd. That one should have it also.
