I just ordered my Traeger ans was wondering when I run it for the first time to get the paint smell out as recommended should I wipe down with peanut oil to cure or just do dry, any help would be appreciated.

seasoning

LARD! I may get a lot of negative reaction , but lard is less sticky on cast iron , and on anything I've ever used it on! Just my thought!:redface:I should have paid more attention to your post. I'm thinking in terms of seasoning after you get the paint smell out!!

Traeger

Good choice. I started mine up and ran a hopper worth of pellets at high temp. Then I sprayed it down with olive oil. No issues with food taste or sticking. Really pretty easy to clean since they come apart so easy.
