How much should I pay for this?

Now, can someone tell me more details about it?

I've been cooking on that very "brand" of Kamado since 2004. Prob built by Kamado during the Johnson's ownership. They are out of the business, sold it to these folks (www.kamadorocket.com) who have been trying like the dickens to get out from under the pile of lawsuits the former owner accumulated for bad business practices over the past decade or so.

Fantastic at $250. As long as the ceramic is intact!! Don't worry about missing tiles, they are just decoration. Id' buy that in a heartbeat!

A few bux and some time changes the tiles, The Kamodo itself is a score!

I would spend some time on http://kamadofraudforum.org/ before you decide.

I actually own an old used one of these that I paid $400 for a few years back. I wouldn't pay that much for it, but at $250 or less, there is a decision to be made.

Plus's

- it has a lot of surface area for a kamado, the grates are 22 inches
- price - other than an akorn, you aren't going to get a Kamado of any type for ~$250
- it cooks great pizzas, wings, and other high heat items.

Minus's

- It will probably crack at a high termperature at some point.
- There is basically zero customer service for these things as the original owner is AWOL, and its hard to pin point whether or not this company even exists anymore.
- It is a little more difficult to control temps than most kamados. Not impossible, just a little difficult.
- Although advertised as such, this is not a ceramic cooker. It is basically made of concrete.

I bought mine from a guy on craigslist that was actually selling a traeger that I bought at the same time. I saw this in his backyard and offered him $400 for it. In hindsight, I should have done some research. I will say that personally, I haven't had any issues with mine except tiles falling off. I don't use it often as I'm afraid it will crack. I realize that this sounds like a very negative review, and that the website I point you to is extremely negative, but most of those folks paid around $1500 for their cooker. At $250 or less, it might be worth the risk. If you get 5-10 years out of it, I'd say it was a steal.

I think it is a deal at $250 but its so fugly that when I showed it to wifey she told me she would divorce me if I bought it. That really made it attractive J/K :p

Good luck, I posted it in the FOR SALE srction.

WTF would you do that?

$250 is about right if everything is intact. Personally, I'd rather buy another kamado, whatever brand you like so you can have the warranty. Might be a bit more at first but it'll work itself out in the long run.

Hmmm, that'll definitely work against him..................

It would go nicely in the Brady bunch bathroom.

But don't judge someone by their outer appearance. Its the food that comes out of it that counts..... (or something like that)

It's kind of feminine, but if you're wanting to spruce the place up you should go for it. HAAYY!!!

It looks better on my deck then the pic's, absolutely dwarfs my large BGE and Costco version Vision Kamado. Filled/fired my offset the last two evenings so going to have eat a couple days before cooking on the new bling grill...... The second or top rack measures 19" and sets a full 6" above the 22" grate. I'm happy so far!

Congrats
Let us know how she cooks for you, pmad would love to know.

Thank you and I will post how she does. I am traveling a couple hours to smoke/grill for a airport flyin Friday evening and Saturday so it will be first of the week. Not transporting this kamado again it is a heavy one.... Owner said 400lbs but I judged it over that!
