I usually look at how much life is left in it, when considering purchasing one used. If it's very, and I meant VERY new I think 70-80% is reasonable, but after 2 or 3 years the price drops quickly down to 40-60% depending on condition, and if older than say 8 years or so I'm looking in that 30-40% range. Again, depending on condition. I've seen some 10 year old pits by a reputable manufacturer that were largely used maybe once a year and kept inside the remainder of the time that were almost brand new, and I've seen some 3 year old ones that were never cleaned, rusted, nasty, that I wouldn't give you 50% for it....

My competition daze are probably behind me now; I pretty much cook for family, friends, and frankly the peace and solitude I get from smokin' on an offset...
Was Lang 84DX, now Bubba Grills 250R and many Weber grills
