Im a couple weeks away from ordering a new cooker.

I am pretty set on a OH pit but just had a SP 750 come up for sale locally and the price isn't bad.

How do you like cooking on your OH or SP pit and moisture / flavor?

Also maintanence I like OH pits ease of finding parts vs SP parts, any recommendations?

Stick with OH or go with a nice deal on a SP 750?

750 is nice one, I have southern prides 700, 500 I do all my repairs and rebuilds and service help and parts is a phone call away...You have the figure cost and what you want both the ole hicks and sp are very goood units..

I am planning on buying the ole hickory new. But for under 10k I can get the SP 750 delivered and only 2 years old seems like a good deal.

Not familiar with SP products although I cant imagine it to be not great due to sales and number of SP cookers out there.

Which OH are you looking to get? The SP is a monster. Capacity of 120 7-8 butts. I personally would buy the SP. Just the cost savings will put you ahead in the long run. It will take quite a few service calls to make up the difference in price. I am going by the SP site and they only have a SP700 listed. Brand new it lists for $23K.

So i've cooked on both. Your basically talking apples to apples. If the SP is the bigger unit, you'll be way ahead of the game as far as investment and cooking space going that route.
You will never find a Pitmaster that didnt wish he had a bigger smoker.
