Default Add beer to brine?

I really love the last 3 turkeys I have smoked. And maybe I should leave well enough alone. But I can't help but wonder how much flavor would be added (and if it would be a good flavor) if I added some beer to my brine. Currently, my brine is:

1 cup Kosher Salt
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup home made rub (what I usually use on brisket and butts)

And then I stuff with:
1 Fuji apple cubed
1 clove of elephant garlic
1/2 onion quartered

I also truss the bird.

I saw this thread:

Not sure I want to add the barley malt, but I was thinking of beer. I was thinking of adding what is in the fridge (Shiner Bock). just not sure if it would do anything or not. Has anyone here tried Shiner in a brine?

This is for a Thanksgiving bird so I would hate to screw it up...

Thoughts, Comments?

Thanks Y'all
Brent
