I'm considering building a gravity feed for a smoker I'm building. I've only seen one of these but I didn't figure out where to put the wood. Does it mix in with the charcoal or maybe go in the ash pan. Dunno. I also couldn't figure out how to do a search for it on here. TIA for any info.

Yes to both of you scenarios. Some folks put it in the ask pan and some mix it in the chute is the chunks are small enough. And some use both.

Personally for me, add chunks to ash pan after cooking chamber reaches target temp and 10 mins till meat goes on.

You can add it in either place, but if you add it to the charcoal chute you have to make sure they are small enough and they still may jam it up.

I've put it in the coal shoot and pan. I now just put it on the pan.
