I have been looking for one of these for over a year but have not found one in striking distance until now. The owner was reluctant to sell but needed cash. I offered a more than fair price and he delivered 180 miles round trip. The total cost was $375.00.

The Oklahoma Joe's Vertical Roasting Oven was the forerunner to the New Braunfels Bandera but built better.

~Serial # 26860

~3/16" thick construction
~welded fire box
~difuser plate at bottom of smoke chamber

I love it.....

Nice one for sure, especially with the delivery. I just posted about a New Braunfels I will pick up next week, not as nice, and needs a lot of work but very do able.

Can you tell me what the box like structure at the bottom of the upright box is or does?

I bought a used 16 inch 0ffset Ok Joe a few years back, and it was a heavy beast, it took two men, and a full growd boy to get it in the truck, I am guessing your's was also a beast to handle.

The bottom box in the upright is a difuser box. It has holes in it to manage the heat from the firebox. The holes get bigger from right to left. It is similar to the convection plates sold by Horizon Smokers except for the shape. Yes, it took three of us to get it off the truck.

He he I can totally relate to that. there was two of us going to load the OK joe's on my trailer. Well it wasn't happening. Luckily a couple Airforce guys walked by and offered a hand.

Theres a forum call Bandera-Brethren.com that was started by a bunch of Bandera owners. Those guys know that pit like no other. Theres a bandera101 document on the site that shows you all the modifications to make to the pit. You will ahve to go back many years to get the bandera stuff, but theres alot!
