Getting 4 (or possibly 5) 55 gallon drums tomorrow....free! Now I gotta start looking for all the pipe, ball valves, grates, charcoal basket, etc etc etc. And I need to look for the thread on those parts/hardware and tips/tricks/directions on making an UDS.
I'M EXCITED!

It's a fun build. I don't have much mechanical know how, but I was able to study up on line and built a very effective drum with no issues.

Good luck!

type in drum smoker or uds or ugly drum smoker, etc. into google click search.
then click images to get some ideas :)

I recommend buying the valves on Ebay. I saved a ton of money that way. And I would buy the biggest ones you can find cheap.

Congratulations on your first...
My suggestion would be to build the first one using Norcoredneck's very informative how-to....http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43943

keep the first one simple, get accustomed to the way it drives and then, if you are so inclined, build the baddest azzed drumsmoker with all the bells and whistles that you can imagine.....
