The IRONMAN BBQ Challenge

Mason-Dixon BBQ Services would like to invite all Competition BBQ Teams to participate in The Ironman BBQ Challenge to be held on Saturday April 4th, 2015 at their location at 1546 Buchanan Trail East, in Greencastle, PA.

This year the Event is sanctioned by KCBS, and designated by Governor’s Proclamation to be a Pennsylvania State Championship BBQ Competition. The Ironman BBQ Challenge will bring together over 40 professional teams from around the country competing for over $6,000.00 in awards and prizes.

A Contest with a twist, THE IRONMAN Challenge allows teams to voluntarily choose to cook without electricity – pellet cookers, GURUS, Stokers, Mavericks, etc. – and to cook only (1) Brisket, (1) Pork Butt, (1) Rack of Ribs, and (7) pcs of chicken. Of course, there are significant cash advantages for choosing to do the Go Naked IRONMAN format and we expect that all the teams in the competition will choose to comply with these rules.

Currently there are 24 teams officially registered for the Competition and we are capping team entry at 42 teams. Are you up to the challenge? Although our first year as a KCBS sanctioned event, we have been hosting the Go Naked IRONMAN for 5 years now and sell out every year. It’s a lot of fun and a great challenge for competition cooks of all levels! Old school baby!

In addition to the standard contest, The Ironman will also feature a People’s Choice Event where all of the BBQ Teams will smoke and sauce 10 lbs of chicken wings; those wings will be offered as a tasting for attendees to vote on their favorite. All proceeds from The Wing Thing Event will directly benefit the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life.
