New guy here so I thought I'd post my first post (not in the help section) with a picture. Its a rainy day here in north Florida and I had a 15% coupon at my local Lowes so I came home with this:

Too late to do any cooks this weekend (which is a shame as Publix has butts on sale for $1.99/lb) but I have the inlaws coming in next weekend so I was thinking about doing a butt when they get here. Maybe shoot for pulled pork next Saturday evening so I'll need an early start to get that done.

At any rate, I think I am going to throw a couple of naked fatties on during the week so I can at least do a "dry run" and to see how this handles. I plan on going the foiled water pan route and not using any water at all. Already have a Maverick Thermometer and I picked up a couple of bags of Stubbs at Wally World for fuel.

Any pointers for my dry run during the week?

Congrats on a solid smoker!

Click on the link in the frame and it shows up. I wonder if Flickr has a limit for external links.

Awesome! You will like it! Now get that baby fired up and smoke something.

I can't see the picture, but I assume it is a WSM.

1. Wash it out with dish-soap and water to get any manufacturing oil off the inside before using it.

2. Use the minion method for your fuel.

3. I like some water in my foil-wrapped bowl, so the dripping grease doesn't burn. I want wood smoke, not grease smoke. But, there are varied opinions on water in a WSM. That's mine.

It looks like you posted a link to the picture rather than the picture itself. I'm not a Flickr user but there should be a way to get the address of the image itself and post that using the Insert Image button above the post edit window.

Yeah, I don't know what the problem is. It showed up fine when I previewed the message before I posted it. I posted it using the

Wow that is a beaut. Gonna have me one of them one day too.

Yeah, I don't know what the problem is. It showed up fine when I previewed the message before I posted it. I posted it using the tags like I normally due when posting images to other VBulletin message boards around the internet.[/quote]

This is the correct code for the pic:

[IMG]http ://farm9.staticflickr.com/8089/8501752846_33cbba5b48_b.jpg

Without the space after "http" and the ":" colon.

Congrats on the new WSM, now get to cookin'!

Sent from my Android phone.

When I look at the original post it doesn't have img tags, it has url tags. If you just pasted the address into the post the forum will assume it is a url and add the url tags.

Just in case this comes up again, what did you do to get the direct address for the image on Flickr, Michael?

Congrats

I pick up my new grill tomorrow. Waited fare to long. I'm salivating now just thinking about it.

Hope it serves you well.

Cheers

Ah, ok I figured it out. It looks like flickr changed something when you copy the tags from a picture. There is a [url] tag right before the [img] tag that you have to remove manually before you post. If you don't remove it, the VB software assumes the whole thing is a URL and attempts to posts a link.

This must be something new to Flickr as I use to just grab the entire [img] link without having to remove anything.

At any rate, I'll be putting on a couple of fatties today to try it out and burn off any manufacturing residue before I try the butt next Saturday.
