So many Brethren to thank for this: Starting with HBBQ for the barrel, Country for the use of the weed burner(and burning it), inspiration that came from so many others- mista, Brian Socal, keale, swamp et. al, and what can you say about this guy Norco? Farken artist that never sleeps with the a blow torch and plasma cutter! Would have taken me months to get done what he did in less than 24 hours. Guess he figured it was better to do it himself than having me on his cell phone bugging the chit out of him. Big mahalo's brother!
My job was easy: sand it, paint it, and find a lid and 2nd grate for it. Did that today with a 10 dollar purchase of a weber kettle on CL. Dude lived up the street from cRocke.
Anyways....heres some pics of the first day I got it home, seasoned it up wit an oak log, small bag of charcoal left over from a tailgate in 1995, and some left over but drippings. Thought I should throw some polska kilbasa and chitty ribs on it that day so as not to waste the oak log.

Nice looking smoker. You know, you paid twice as much for that bottle opener because it has green paint on it.

Looks like cooking was a greater priority than painting..... Mine too....
I am pissed at my UDS though... She had the nerve to get up to 340 before I saw it and she has never done that before and I had all the intakes off.

Welcome to the club Kev. When is the official "first" smoke? Whats on the menu? The cooker looks good!!

Way to go single fin looking good. next weekend my buddy with the welder is going to put the final touches on my barrel I hope. I will then be siging that song roll out the barrel will have a barrel of fun you get the idea great job. soon to join ya :icon_bigsmil:icon_bigsmil

Careful with charcoal and flip flops. Bill Hot Foot Mod.

(and congratulations)

Tanks ya'll!!!!

My feet have been burnt so many times now I cain't even feel em anymore.

First cook is tomorrow. Made a deal with my chiropractor and fellow trojan to cook a briskets for her, and she'll start waving my co-pays. Might as well throw in a fattie or two.

I need to 'splain a little bit more about the pics. In addition to the cl kettle lid and grates, theres some other recycling that went on here.
Mr. Norco is a man with a plan(and plasma cutter).
My Mr. Meat Smoker ecb is now the fire box. The 2 grates tacked welded together to the bottom of the sides of the ecb, sitting on those long bolts in the charcoal bowl. Which allows everthing to burn with air flow, then ashes fall into the ecb bowl. Makes clean up alot easier.
Still don't know how to thank him for this.
Theres a few other little things I need to do with it. Oven gasket for the lid(thanks cRocke), and finding some casters to build a form fitting dollie for it.

Chit this is so much fun!

you'll love it...

This weekend: cooked 16 total butts. 8 per barrel. (1) 12# bag of Kingsford each...GOOD TO GOOOOO

:O)

Looks great Fin, did you have any residue left after Country hit it with the weed burner? It looked pretty clean afterwards but I was just wondering.

Oxy cleaned it after Country was finished wit it, then some sort of brillo pad when Norco brought it back to me. Clean as chit man, and no smell at all. Well, it smells now....like pork fat and mesquite smoke....

Single Fin - I like your smoker...here's mine 8)
