At the end of a cook on a UDS, do you folks close/block the top vents also or just the bottom? I went with the eight 1/2" holes but I could get some fridge magnets to cover them up at the end of a cook if need be.

Thanks.

Wad foil and plug.

I close both Intake and Exhaust but just have a 2" bung on top. I would close your 8 holes, it will help put out the fire and keep bugs out.

I just have plugs (no valves) so I put them all in, and the lump goes out. Later I shake the basket and save the good pieces for the next cook.

I like to plug both ends, I think the fire goes out faster that way.

I plug the top vents and close the two bottom ball valves. Snuffs the fire out quick...

I use the Weber lid. I close all vents & have charcoal left over for next time.

Close the top & bottom, the weber lid makes it easy!
