Catering License...

$350 is cheap. I doubt if you find it cheaper.

Your website after you finish will need a touch up by a pro. Mine was done by brother, SOEZZY! PM him and pay him for a day, 1/2 of work or what ever the budget allows. www.soezzy.com

I would not commit to what wood you are using on specific meats. You can say we smoke your meat using pecan, hickory, apple...

Thanks Steph...I'm gonna pick your brain clean next week bro!:lol::lol: And your spice cabinet lock too!

Here's my site that I threw together with an old copy of Microsoft FrontPage that I had from a former life. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

Had a good meeting with Don at the local VFW...he is taking my request to his BOD for approval. :p Also got a line on a future comp and possibly 25-30 catering gigs... The last guy he recommended turned out some pretty bad Q and left a bad taste in the locals mouths...his loss...our gain...me and the Swamprb don't turn out bad Q...period!

VFW shot me down......back to the drawing board...

Sorry to hear that the VFW shot you down. There's a guy not too far from me to got setup selling que at a VFW on Friday's and Saturdays. He actually built an outdoor brick pit in the back of their parking lot. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had success approaching VFW's and how do you approach them? What do you say to them, whats the benefits to them for allowing you to cook on their property? I'm just curious because I'd like to do something on the weekends to try and make some extra money.

Thanks Patrick...I've got a line on a local Grange Hall and pub that may have a kitchen available...no worries...I'll find something. In the meantime I'll just do private gigs.

The Grange Hall is a go @ $20.00 per hour. Now for the bad news...I have to pay $347.00 for the inspection...and $697.00 per year for the permit! Dayum...this catering stuff is pricey...initially...

How does that compare to fees in your areas?

My family has an agreement with local bar.

Bam,

Your family is cooking barbecue at a local bar? Is it in Philly? Do you know what kind of arrangement they have with the bar owner? I'm interesting in doing something in Montgomery County on the weekends.

I should change the title of this thread to "Headache License"...:lol::lol: Trying to find a catering kitchen that doesn't cost an arm and a leg is getting ridiculous. Most folks that I have talked with do not have a kitchen that is up to code and want me to pay for the certification...ain't happenin'! :icon_bugeyed Most other folks are flaky as hell...they talk a good game but don't back it up with actions.

I'm just gonna stick with the personal chef / private catering for now...if something comes together for a kitchen then I'll start doing public gigs...

Thanks SoEzzy...most of those places want an arm and a leg for hourly use or a monthly contract of at least 800.00 per month. I'll plug along on my own for now...I have another plan of attack that I'm working on for next week.
