I started a thread about my build here http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129408.

Now its done, so I thought I would present it to you all. Thanks for all the suggestions and helpful tips offered during the build!

I tried to go for an all-terrain mod, inspired by skidder. I would have opreferred pneumatic tires, but they were too big to use on a midi UDS. I put in 3 racks (2", 7", and 11" from the lip of the drum). Two racks are for cooking and the third rack is for a water pan/diffuser. Got the wheels (8") at Harbor Freight, on 5/8" threaded rod. The charcoal basket is made out of expando and a charcoal grate for an 18.5" weber kettle. The basket is 12" high, but the charcoal grate was bolted in at 4" from the bottom, so effectively the basket is 8" deep. The 16"x 2" ash pan is a cake pan from Amazon. Amazon also had the cooking grate and hinged grate.

I can't wait to get it dirty. Bottle opener above the handle will be put to good use!

ok, i havn't even started on my 16 gal drum smoker and already i'm lookin for a 30 gal drum. full drum would be just to big for ma as i'm in a wheelchair. great job !

Thanks for the comments. I'm plotting to decide what to do the seasoning cook with, so I can start getting it dirty.

George - hope you can find a good source for 30 gallon drums. I had a heck of a time. The cool thing about the drum I bought is that the liner was real easy to get rid of - just a mild coating that burned off very easily with a weedburner. I know its all gone because there is now a little rust on the inside... so I need to get it seasoned quickly.

Looks great! Its hot today. Can I come over for a dip?

You can come over... but only if you bring the beer.

The mods have already started - cut a notch in the lip of the drum to pass the wires of my maverick therm (got tired of threading them through a grommet), added nipple cap holders so I don't lose the caps when I open up the intakes, and also a bracket/shelf to place the transmitter for the maverick therm. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
