21 teams each paid $100 entry fee with absolutely no payback. Meat was given to all' made possible by donation. 3 meats, sausage, chicken, ribs.

Contest was held in a VFW hall with music playing and onlookers looking.
9 of the 21 judges were active duty soldiers from Camp Dodge. 1st (and pry last) time dinking an ice cold beer while judging BBQ, them boys from Camp Dodge were thirsty fellas!

There were dozens of gift baskets for a silent auction, I checked a 4 pack of a dozen golf balls, $190 dollars!! Chili contest also.
All proceeds went to Veterans services.
Great day had by all.

That's why I judge BBQ.

No doubt it was the most fun at any contest in a long time. That is one that I would love to have been at.

Administrative politics is probably the worst influence on discouraging judges. Other than that, judging is a hoot.
