Question Shortening the intakes on my UDS

I have been told in another question I had about temp flucuations that if I lowered my risers that it would help with the flucuations. The Question now is I have been given (free)24" 3/4" copper with the adapters and two more ball valves, is it ok to use copper?

Here is the link from the other question, it has a pic of my drum: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=162442
