I am not cooking it... too "iffy" to predict the weather that early in the year but I understand the rain we're getting soaked with today is supposed to move out along with these temps in the 50's. Friday is supposed to be low 60's and Saturday upper 60's. and dry.
I am planning to go up there and check it out on Saturday morning. I tried to get ahold of the person in charge of judges and offer my services but never got a live person OR a voice mail so it doesn't look like I'll be doing that unless someone doesn't show and I'm in the right place at the right time.

I was a judge there last year. Wife said someone called today to see if I wanted to judge again. Not sure if I can make it.

I will be there on Friday night - just hanging out. Actually picking up a WSM from Parrothead Smokers.

We cooked this one a couple of years ago but will probably not do it again. Everyone was focused on the Snake Saturday Parade and didn't really pay much attention to the BBQ teams. At least that was the perception on our part - and as we all know perception is reallity.

I may also make an appearance on Friday night - but not cooking it this year. I had the same "lukewarm" view of the melding of the parade with the BBQ. In addition, I had someone kiss my left rear quarter panel with a little luck of the irish mod.
Wayne, Jeff and anyone else not cooking -- the faction of HoDeDos are going to be cooking at Breit's Stein and Deli in downtown KCK for thier annual St. Pat's bash.... A fun time will be had by all - stop on out and come to the back patio if you want to see some live food porn in action. :twisted:

Thanks Doorbusters... I had that name but they gave me the home number of a woman (forgot the name) who they said was in charge of arranging for judges. I called that number probably ten times and never got anyone to answer or a voice mail. Weird. I think they told me she was a teacher.

Her name is Betty Sue, she works with my wife. I'll try to get the number from her, she is enroute to Lake of the Ozarks for PTA conference, cell coverage is spotty at best. I'll let you know!

Damn, I guess my wife is alright afterall! Just got off the phone with her. Told her NKC just recently had a big jump in contest entries (up to around 85 teams now) and probably do need judges according to the organizer this afternoon. I was thinking of just heading up in the morning and locating the judge coordinator and contest reps to offer my services and sticking around home tonight. She says "Why don't you just go on up to the BBQ tonight and have a few beers and hang out with the guys?" Hmmm... interesting she should say that! LOL! Maybe my climbing the walls has pushed her over the edge? Maybe she's just a good wife!

Gleened a few results off another place. I understand Smokin' Clones won NKC today and Bare Bones BBQ got Reserve. don't know anything else.
