I couple of you have asked about Kona coffee. I just received cupping notes on a very nice Kona that i can get in a couple of weeks. I'd like to know how many of you would buy some before I order any.

Cupping Notes:

1. Dry fragrance/wet aroma – Dry/Cocoa and Toffee. Wet/Milk chocolate.

2. Brightness/acidity – Medium brightness; cup appropriate.

3. Flavor/depth – Well balanced with nuts, milk chocolate and spice notes.

4. Body/mouthfeel – “Big” Kona. Medium heavy to heavy cup.

5. Finish/aftertaste – cocoa mixed with a floral taste. Very pleasant as it lingers.

I'm waiting for a shipping quote, but it looks like I can offer this coffee at $18 - $20 per bag plus the normal shipping to you.

Who wants some?

It depends on when it is available. I've had freshly roasted kona a couple times and really liked it so it would be worth that price to me but it depends on the pay period thingie.

Mmmmmmm.... I just happen to be running out of Roastin' Ronnie's...

I find that some brands can call it Kona but in truth it only contains 10% Kona beans and 90% unknown beans. Have you had this brand before? Let me know Ron if its the real deal I would be interested.

Ron I would like 2 bags and can paypal immediately if you get enough interest thanks.

As the thread title says, this is 100% Kona, not a Kona blend. It is not a brand, I am buying green coffee direct from the grower.

Ron, in your opinion is this coffee really that much better than others?

In my opinion, yes. A good Kona is a thing of beauty. But, not all Konas are created equal. That's why I waited until I had a response from the group doing the cupping. They recommended it unanimously.

But, the real decision comes down to you and your budget. That's why I'm gauging interest. The green coffee is actually three times the cost per pound of what I normally offer, but there is no way i can charge you guys three times the roasted cost, so I'm planning on offering it at what seems like a fair price to me. Not everyone will agree :-D

Ron you dont want to know how many bags I picked up that said 100% only to find out otherwise. I wont mention any brands but most are on Amazon. Anyways if you say this is the deal Im all in my friend. Nothing beats a good cup of this stuff. I work in oakbrook so If I can just pick it up and save on the shipping that would be great. I promise not to show up in a trench coat and socks!

like guerry, depending on the pay period, i'd be in for 1 at that price, ya only live once!!! and i have never had "real" kona blend or not so you better do good ronelle ;) (im sure you always do good!!)

If the bag says 100% Kona and it isn't, that illegal. Like Jamaica Blue Mountain, there are strict laws that govern the labeling for Kona. The bag may say something confusing like "100% Kona Blend", but somewhere on the bag it has to state the percentage of Kona.

But, none of that applies here since I am not buying pre-roasted coffee.

I would love to buy some....Its funny someone brought me a bag of Jamaica Blue Mountain and I loved it...Kona is great too

i would take two bags. i notice you said it's green coffee..... woudl it be roasted when shipped? i'd hate to buy two bags and not know what to do with it.

coming up, kona imperial stout!

can paypal whenever's clever.

Ron buys his beans green and does his own roasting to insure freshness as he is a true afficianado.

Looks like that's 9 with quite a few more maybes so far.
