Hey guys I have a follow up question. I just got a hold of a sst barrel that I plan on using for my second uds. I've been told it had soda syrup in it. That does appear to be the case and it also appear to not have any type of lining to it.
Would you go ahead and burn it out and mess up the finish or do you think a good washing of the inside should be good enough?

Burn it, ALWAYS. Never trust what someone says was in a barrel. Better safe. PLus the blueing effect will look neat.

Expensive. Even scrap 304 stainless right now is .71/# To buy raw material is probably 3x that.
