I have a new Big Green Egg which I will use for my Thanksgiving turkey. I also have a remote thermometer that I'll use. Where to people route the temperature probes for BGS's or similar cookers? I was planning to just string the wire between the base and lid, then I saw a video where someone strung the probe through the top vent. What is everyone's preference and experience?
Thanks.

Between the base and lid works great. No need to use the top vent.

same deal here - thru base/dome on the felt.

I used to run it through the top daisy wheel, but even a 6' probe, it would barely fit, would have to get a high side table to place the thermometer on to create some slack, etc

So now I just go under lid/on top of base, no worries.

If you are using a platesetter - run the probe wire over the "leg" and out the smoker so to speak - helps shield the wire probe from direct heat.

Just run mine between the lid and base too. Never had a problem.

Between the base & lid, same way as Eggzlot mentioned, over a plate setter leg.
