My name is Cary, and I live in West Texas. I found the Brethen through BrooklynQ's blog, http://whitetrashbbq.blogspot.com.

I have been barbecuing for about 15 years. I built my current smoker out of an old propane tank several years ago and I am now working on building a pull behind. I am Looking to do a some competition cooking and maybe some catering in 05, any advice is welcome.

This seems to be a great site with a lot of experience and knowlege hanging around. I look forward to spending time with people that share my interest and learning a thing or two along the way.

Welcome.

What part of "west Texas"?

I lived in San Antonio for a total of 11 years and spent a few months at San Angelo (Goodfellow AFB) in '73.

Quick quiz:

Chili. Beans or no beans?

Hey Meat Head.

Glad to see you here. Nice blog you got there. These are some of the most knowledgeable guys on BBQ on the net. And ulike other BBQ forums, we guys share all their secrets.

I spent a summer in Lubbok back in 1981, spent a semster at Texas Tech studying architecture. Nice little town.

(There's an opening if there ever was one.) Pull up a chair and grab an adult beverage. You're sure to enjoy yourself here!

Cary, Welcome Brother! It would be great to see pictures of your home built pit and some in progress pix of your new pull behind too. Maybe you can teach this MOFO (missouri member) how to cook with mesquite!

Welcome Meathead. The MOFO's are Missouri Folks, or in some cases: Missouri Folkers! :p Lots of Texans ans former Texans here too. Need a good name for our Texas chapter. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the fray!

Wow, what a busy forum. 10 posts after just a few hours. You really know how to make a guy feel all warm and fuzzy.

I am in Lubbock, TX. I am sure many of you are familiar with Lubbock, as BrooklynQ said, because of Texas Tech. My wife actually works for Texas Tech.

I am really sorry I missed the debate over chili. I strongly believe real chili DOES NOT have beans :!: I love beans and I love chili, but I do not love beans in my chili. :D

I have a picture of my pit on my blog at http://bbqandbeer.blogspot.com. I did not take a single picture of the contruction so I can only show you the finished product. as far as the pull behind, I have a 500 gallon tank and large pipe located, but I have had a hell of a time getting them picked up. I will post pictures as soon as I get them in my possesion.
