Quintessential Chatty Farker
It was kind of odd just showing up at a comp with no real reason to be there, but it was a great weekend, and Madison is only a couple of hours away. We stayed across the river in Carrollton, KY, and just drove between.
Tony Hunter (Indy Smokehouse BBQ) finally got into his first comp. We offered to judge since my wife and I are both CBJ's, but they apparently were full up, so we hung out with Tony and his wife and youngest daughter. We got to spend some time talking to old friends, and just relaxed for the weekend.
Tony did a great job. I tried Mike's ribs (Eagle River), and I have to say they were great. Also tried Rollin' Smoke's brisket which was very good, too... sweet with a bit of heat but not too much.
Who woulda thunk that Madison would be in the mid 80s and low humidity in August??? Great weather and company!
