Sorry... picture heavy!

I received a new steamer during deer season from two of my friends that were here for the week. They showed me how to make sticky rice so I have been trying to think of ways to serve it. I really like the rice, just need ideas. :)

I poached some shrimp in water seasoned with salt and five spice...

For New Years Day I had company...
So I quick cured some chops, stuffed them with jalapeno cornbread, made hoppin' john and greens...

Not sure if the peas and greens really work but I feel lucky so far. :)

Yes... I can't seem to shake this cold. Probably should quit cooking outside when the temp is in the teens. :-D
 
I've never had (or heard of) Hoppin' John but I'd hop for a plate of that Jeanie! ;)

I had to read up a bit on it. Looks great & I hope it leads to a very prosperous year for you!

I knew I was in for a treat when I opened this thread! Everything looked as scrumptious as I expected! Is the cornbread very spicy? Recipe?
 
TFO and I are HUGE sticky rice fans Jeanie!
Those prawn roses are the bomb, and I have to google hoppin johns now!
Everything looks sensational to us!

Thank you MisterChrister! The cornbread isn't very spicy. You could add more jalapenos but I like it mild. :)

Did the wasabi help with the cold at all? Seems like hot stuff helps at least temporarily.
