Drum for UDS....I want one...in Stainless if possible

I saw a thread in here , cant find it again.

It had a name of company with reconditioned drums, in stainless for under 200 bucks.

I live in chicagoland area and wondering if there are any places anyone knows of that are close OR ships.

you can buy brand new drums at Grainger.com, but not a stainless for under 200.

I thought I saw someone in here post on a thread a reconditioned cost of a SS Drum for under 200 thought it was about 133 bucks

Used stainless drums come up occasionally. I got one last summer for $40. Another possibility is to buy a stainless steel Weber kettle clone (about $200) and "stretch" it with extensions. Here's a link: http://www.arcticproducts.com/ssgrills.htm

The 26" diameter on this one would require you to fabricate your own grill. Most folks around here use a 55 gallon drum. A 22.5" weber (or any other clone) grill fits it nicely. If you were willing to fab your own grill, I suppose the extra capacity would be cool!

No way im buying a new one...cheapest ive found is $516 for thinner gauge $625 for a bit heavier.

Guess I'll just make one out of reg. steel, If/When a reconditioned SS drum falls in my lap I'll make a new one and give old away.

Check your phone book for Line-X truck bed cover dealers. I am picking one up Wednesday from our local dealer. They have yellow and white drums. I read that the white drum has non toxic stuff in it but the yellow one has toxic materials so be careful what you get.

Hello, just to say on barrels, for the good of everyone around. please get and use FOOD grade type. Toxic chemicals come out at the worst times. I have been making barrel cookers for a while now. Mine come with flanged and bolt together construction so several years later, should the drum rust you just bolt to another. Thanks ssbbqguy

Where would one look for food grade drums? I'm on the search right now but have no idea where to start. I know unlined is prefered but what industry - who would I call for unlined food grade? If I can get the parts together my wife is gonna have to suffer with bbq again next weekend :mrgreen:

Check with your local bakery, health food, or large chain grocery stores...I think Swamprb found a few that had bee pollen or cooking oil in them. Good luck.

Thank you sir - looks like I have some phone calls to make on Monday. Neighbor is a welder and a buddy is getting rid of a weber that he just replaced the grates on so I gots to find a drum!
